Sacramento County Water Quality- Sacramento, CA
Land Architecture, Inc. teamed with Williams + Paddon Architects & Planners, Sacramento County Regional Sanitation District, and the County of Sac. Public Works Agency - Architectural Services Division to develop the Sacramento County Regional Sanitation District Administration Center and Corporation Yard. This project consists of a two-story, 135,000 SF Office Building; a 40,000 SF Warehouse, Shop, Central Plant Building and Corporation Yard situated on approximately 23 acres. The landscape areas alone covers 170,000 square feet (or just under 4 acres). The new facility was designed for and did receive a LEED Silver rating.
As sub-consultants to the Architectural team, Land Architecture, Inc. (LAI) provided services that included conceptual landscape master planning, design development, and construction documents. Further services included construction administration through project completion. LAI set the tone for development of the project with a proposal to create a series of “exterior rooms” as an integral component of the overall landscape master plan. LAI developed the vision of an employee oriented “campus like” environment.
The design incorporates screen walls and seat walls along accent paving, pots and areas for outdoor café style gathering, all in an attractively designed water efficient landscape that was planned to encourage employee use of the of the outdoor spaces. Landscape LEED credits were also targeted and achieved through storm water management and the use of a significant bio-swale system, highly efficient irrigation design, and the extensive use of water conserving and recycled landscape materials.
