Placer Ranch
Acting in a key consultant role, site planning, site analysis, design development, and landscape planning services continue to be provided for this proposed 2,200 acre new Community Plan in South Placer County, California. The objective of this new community is to design a community based upon Smart Growth principles, one that provides for new jobs, higher education, a variety of housing types, and a mix of retail opportunities. It is first an employment center, with a university base, with housing to support the businesses and the new University campus. The land plan has been organized around a circulation plan that promotes walking and bicycling. It is a plan that we assisted in making it a pedestrian first design and one that promotes close association of compatible uses to reduce vehicular traffic trips.
Another major component to the plan was the incorporation of a diverse parks and open space plan. The parks program encourages joint use facilities as well as smaller more locally serving open space for the resident and worker. The well planned streetscape will be responsive to a variety of land users and will promote tree lined and shaded parkways with an inviting and efficient bike/pedestrian network.
